Emotion Works

At Strathmore, we have adopted a whole school approach to learning about emotional awareness and regulation using a programme called Emotion Works. This will ensure that we are using a common language and approach across the school to support children in recognising and managing their emotions.

Emotion Works is taught through different “cogs” that represent various parts of emotional literacy such as 'emotion words' and 'triggers'. This term, every class will be exploring each of the "cogs" as part of their Health and Wellbeing learning.

Please follow the link below to find out more and see how you can use Emotion Works at home.

Decider Skills

At Strathmore, all children learn about the 12 Deicder Skills that can be used to recongise, manage and regulate our thoughts and feelings. Children begin by learning aboout 'The Fizz'. These are the signals and behaviours that our body demonstrates to show how we are feeling. After that, each skill is taught and children are encouraged to consider how they can apply these to their everyday lives.
